Job description

The Loan Servicing Agent under moderate supervision, will perform telephone and loan servicing activities for student loans.

This involves handling inbound calls, emails, and use of an outbound dialer in collecting on student loans through negotiating repayment arrangements, processing payments and counseling borrowers on options available for repayment.

Accurately and professionally respond to borrowers and/or third parties via phone, email, fax, and letters in accordance with Federal regulations and the Common Manual. Process documents and forms with any necessary research in making adjustments to the borrower’ s account.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The following standards express the minimum background of education and experience as evidence of an applicant’ s ability to qualify for this specific job description. Any combination of education and experience, if evaluated as equivalent, may qualify an applicant for this position.

 
    • Bachelor' s degree from an accredited college or university OR three years of experience in a customer service setting communicating information.
    • Type a minimum of 45 wpm.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills, listening/reading comprehension.
    • At least basic level experience in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Cannot currently be in default on any federal student loan or Pell Grant overpayment, and cannot currently be under any state or federal wage lien.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 
  • More than two years call center experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a loan servicing, collection, financial aid, or banking environment.
  • At least intermediate level experience in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
